Born 13th June 1961, Simon is a first generation trainer. Often considered to be the most forward thinking of workaholics, he still finds plenty of time to keep clients informed and entertained. Simon was a committed athlete himself, having held the record over 800 metres as Surrey County champion, before directing his energies into horses and eventually the training of racehorses.
 
A working apprenticeship was served first as a lad, before quickly turning his attention to the business side of things. An opportunity to combine an Assistant Trainer's position with Philip Mitchell with his own small yard led quickly to bigger things and Simon moved to Epsom in 1987 to take over Wendover Stables, owned by Arthur Pitt.
Success was soon forthcoming and notable wins included the Brocklesby, the Gold Cup at Lingfield and the Whitbread White Label at Cheltenham, before the opportunity came to expand by moving to Clear Height Stables.  

Clear Height Stables and the Epsom Training Centre are within easy reach of London, only half an hour by train from city to town centre. The close proximity of the Capital City and its southern suburbs gives the oppurtunity for owners to visit early morning gallops and see their horses in action, before getting to their office at 9:00am.

The Epsom training facilities have been given an extra boost in the last couple of years and are now of the highest standard. With the addition of two new all-weather surfaces; a long distance wax track, which is particularly useful for National Hunt Horses, and a polytrack surface, the same material which has recently been used to much acclaim at Lingfield Park racetrack.

There is also another 85 miles of grass and all weather gallops maintained to a high standard by a team of resident ground staff. There are also starting stalls and schooling fences which are available whenever necessary.
